Why should I hire F. T. Sessoms as my Minnesota DWI lawyer?

Minnesota DWI Attorney F.T. Sessoms responds:

Experience Matters:

I have been an attorney for twenty-nine years, first as a prosecutor and, for the past twenty-four years, as a Minnesota DWI and criminal defense attorney. In addition to defending people accused of felonies in State and Federal Court, I have defended thousands of people accused of committing a Minnesota DWI.

I did not like being a prosecutor because in habit and temperament I want to fight for the underdog; for the accused. And as a Minnesota DWI lawyer I enjoy the intellectual and emotional challenge of defending those accused of violating the Minnesota DWI laws.

I do not endorse driving drunk. But I will not condone officers who fabricate or exaggerate reasons for the stop, arrest, testing or their "adherence to proper procedure". These Minnesota DWI cases can be won and as a Minnesota DWI Attorney, I have won a disproportionate number of cases by aggressively cross-examining the police officers involved in the DWI arrest.

Aggressiveness Matters:

A lot of Minnesota DWI lawyers claim that they are "tough" or "bold" or "aggressive" and maybe they are. But how many Minnesota DWI Attorneys will offer you proof? I have been so aggressive in court that a Bloomington Minnesota Police Sergeant filed a complaint against me.

In his letter to the Board of Professional Responsibility, the Sergeant (an officer with over eleven years experience) complains, "Sessoms used this preposterous and ridiculous theory to accuse me of lying and committing several egregious crimes. Suddenly, in the middle of a Rasmussen hearing, I found myself being treated like a defendant-not a witness".

The complaint was summarily dismissed and so were the charges against my client. Or as was noted by the Sergeant in his complaint, "I had written this letter originally immediately after the hearing. I fully expected to win this hearing; based on the evidence presented, it seemed a certainty. I was further stunned to learn that the judge actually found the testimony of Mr. R__. and I to be equally credible; therefore, the case was dismissed."

The Sergeant's complaint to the board serves as amusing proof that I aggressively defend my clients by thoroughly cross-examining the police (A full copy of the complaint is available upon request).

Peer Recognition Matters:

For the past eight years, I have been named a Minnesota "Super Lawyer" by Minneapolis-St. Paul Magazine and by Minnesota Law and Politics. This award is voted on by my peers and is only given to the very best lawyers in the field. The award is an objective measure of the competency and dedication that I bring to the practice of criminal defense and I am proud to be one of its recipients. I was recently named a "Top 40 Criminal Defense Lawyer" by Who's Who in Criminal Defense. I have also been selected for inclusion in "The Best Lawyers in America" guidebook.

"Published biennially since 1983, The Best Lawyers in America is widely regarded as the preeminent referral guide to the legal profession in the United States. The Best Lawyers lists, representing 80 specialties in all 50 states and Washington, DC, are compiled through an exhaustive peer-review survey in which thousands of the top lawyers in the U.S. confidentially evaluate their professional peers. The current, 13th edition of Best Lawyers (2007), is based on more than 1.8 million detailed evaluations of lawyers by other lawyers."

Participation in Legal Organizations Matters:

I am a member of the Minnesota Society for Criminal Justice which is a group of 50 attorneys dedicated to Minnesota DWI and criminal defense. An attorney must be asked to join the group and it has been my privilege to be a member and past president of the organization.

I am a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and a member of the Minnesota Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. I have been elected to serve on the Board of Directors of the MACDL and am the current chairman of the Amicus Committee.

As a Minnesota DWI Attorney it has been my privilege to lecture at a number of State and National DWI Defense Seminars and thereby share my knowledge and insight concerning the defense of those accused of DWI. Other attorneys seek my advice on a daily basis concerning Minnesota DWI and criminal defense issues.

Your Money And Reputation Matters:

Any attorney can put up a website touting their services. But if you have been arrested for a Minnesota DWI you are facing fines, jail, the loss of your license and a criminal record. So why not hire a Minnesota DWI Attorney that other lawyers turn to for help? Why not hire an experienced, aggressive and peer-recognized attorney to handle your case? After all, it's your money.

I like my job. I like winning cases. If you would like to give me the opportunity to represent you then call me, F.T. Sessoms, at (612) 344-1505.
